1. Introduction
Welcome to Moon Calendar ("we," "our," or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting
any personal information you may provide while using our application. This Privacy Policy explains our
data collection, use, and disclosure practices.
2. Information We Collect
Moon Calendar is designed to be privacy-first. The core features of the calendar work
without any account or login. However, we offer optional sign-in for enhanced features.
- Local Storage Data: We utilize your browser's LocalStorage to save your preferences
(such as light/dark theme selection, English/Hindi language toggle), your custom calendar markers
(birthdays, anniversaries), and your personal notes. This data remains on your device by
default.
- Google Sign-In (Optional): If you choose to sign in, we use Google Authentication
via Firebase. We receive your Google display name, email address, and profile photo. We do not
access your Google contacts, calendar, or any other Google data.
- Cloud-Synced Data: When signed in, your notes and markers are stored in Google
Cloud Firestore under your unique user ID. This allows you to access your data across devices. Each
user can only read and write their own data — no other user or admin can access it.
3. Third-Party Services
To function as an accurate astrological tool and provide account features, Moon Calendar interacts with
the following third-party services:
- Firebase Authentication (Google): Handles user sign-in securely. Your
authentication tokens are managed by Google Firebase and are never stored by us in plain text.
- Google Cloud Firestore: Stores your notes and markers in a secure, per-user
database when you are signed in. Data is protected by security rules that restrict access to the
authenticated user only.
- Vedic Astro Service: Used to fetch precise daily Panchang data (Tithi, Nakshatra).
By using this feature, your request IP may be visible to their servers.
- Google Calendar Service: Used strictly to fetch public Indian National Holiday
datasets. No personal calendar data is read from your Google Account.
4. Data Security
Your locally stored data (notes and markers) relies on the security of your own device. When signed in,
your cloud-synced data is protected by Firebase security rules — only you can access your data using
your authenticated Google account. We recommend securing your devices with passwords and avoiding
storing highly sensitive information in calendar notes.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other
operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last
Updated" date at the top of this page.
